Third time is a charm right?
My name is Wechuli Simiyu. I am a newly minted Rotarian (Nairobi North, thrilled) and a newly minted medical doctor. I also write software.
A few of us have the dream of optimizing what is good, to be better. At some point, we will have to say good things about the work we have created here in Kenya, spreading outwards, and about how much education has changed. I am determined to be at the forefront of that, and I am giving it my best shot.
Like most other novices, there are things you might succeed at, at first, and more ways in which you can fail to hit your mark, no matter how well prepared you are. I am counting this third try as the successful one, and you can probably feel it too.
I intend to find a way of making learning addictive, but extremely effective, the way social media changed how we connect. In this case, to connect the dots faster.
Throughout academia, I have always been a late bloomer in any academic year. Things always become easier when I have the full picture, and that is usually when the time left to the next milestone is very short. I have always wished that the El-click would hit sooner. The secret has always been knowing what the end goal is.
For instance, I grew the most as a developer during the past 3 months, than I ever did for 3 years before that, when I started fiddling around with a terminal. This probably means that time would have been shorter if I knew exactly what it is I am gunning for.
Well, since technology will solve this one day, I am excited to try and contribute. I am trying to shorten that distance with you.
